Email Address Field

Email Address Field

The aim of these fields is to collect an email address from respondents, to be stored with the rest of your results.

Email addresses are a valuable marketing tool and can be used to advertise or promote most any service or product. On top of this, email is likely to be the preferred form of contact for a lot of respondents.

  1. Go to the Builder
  2. Open the Form tab in the sidebar
  3. Click ‘Question’ to open the question type picker
  4. Under Contact Details, select Email address
  5. Title your field
  6. Assign headings to text fields (if necessary)

The default settings for this question type will insert only one text field, alongside the question text space. The text box will have a textarea height of one line and will have the Email Input Limitation applied. It is also linked to the ‘Email address’ contact field by default, so it prefills and updates the CRM contact record automatically. These settings can all be edited through the question’s settings panel.

Clicking the question in the builder expands its settings directly beneath it:

  • Required: This option will appear as a toggle, which can be enabled or disabled. When enabled, it will force respondents to complete the question before they can finish the survey or quiz. When disabled, participants will be able to skip any question. By default, this setting will be inactive.
  • Numbered: This button toggles the numbering for the concerned question.
  • Link to Contact detail: Choose a contact field to link all responses for this question to. Set to ‘Email address’ by default. A ‘Manage contact fields’ button next to it lets you add new custom contact fields.
  • Text rows: Customize the size of the textbox, and therefore the amount of text a respondent can input.
  • Prefix / Postfix: Optional fixed text displayed immediately before or after the response box.
  • Input Limitation: Control what type of information participants can input. Toggle between ‘None’, ‘Numeric’, ‘Email’ (the default for this question type), ‘Web Address’, ‘Telephone Number’, and ‘Custom’.

Note: There is no longer a per-question “Personal info” toggle. Instead, a form-wide Pseudonymization setting (Settings tab → Privacy & Security) separates personally identifiable information from the rest of your results across the whole form.

Participants enter text into the answer field, like any other textbox based question.

The Report (the Results tab, previously called the Quick Report) for this question type will simply list all results as ‘text responses’.
