Manage Custom Fields

Custom fields are called Attributes in the app. They’re where you can store additional data about your contacts. You can view them from your Contact list, or from the Details tab of an individual contact profile.

When adding a new contact manually, there are fourteen default fields. Only the email field is required, all others are optional.

  • Email address
  • First name
  • Last name
  • WhatsApp phone number
  • Company
  • Address Line 1
  • Address Line 2
  • City/Town
  • State/Province
  • Zip/Post Code
  • Country
  • Phone number
  • Language
  • NPS®

You can create your own attributes to personalize the information you hold on your contacts. For example: birthday, employee ID, hobbies, interests, subscription plan, customer type, etc.

To create a new attribute:

  1. Go to Contacts
  2. Click the + Attribute button in the column header of the Contact list (or open a contact profile, go to the Details tab and click Manage attributes, then + Attribute)
  3. Enter an Attribute label
  4. Choose a Type of attribute from the dropdown
  5. Optionally add a description (used as context for AI translation)
  6. Click Save

Once you create a new attribute it’s available on every contact’s Details tab. Each attribute also gets an auto-generated reference shown in the create/edit form — this is the merge tag you use to personalize emails and messages with the contact’s data, for example ${birthday} or ${employee-id}.

The Contact list shows an extra column next to Lists for a contact attribute (First Name, by default). Click the + Attribute button in that column’s header to create a new attribute — it’s added to the pool of fields available across the account.

  1. Go to Contacts and open any contact’s profile
  2. Go to the Details tab and click Manage attributes
  3. Find the attribute you want to remove and click its delete (trash) icon — the built-in default fields have this icon disabled and can’t be deleted
  4. Confirm by clicking Delete
