How to Group Contacts
Organizing your contacts into groups — called Lists in the Contacts area of the app — is an ideal method of creating targeted surveys and campaigns.
Creating Lists
Section titled “Creating Lists”To create a list:
- Go to Contacts
- Click the List dropdown at the top of the Contact list
- Click New list
- Give it a name (Group name)
- Select a Lawful basis of processing (No consent, Explicit consent, Contract, Legal obligation, Vital interests, Public task, or Legitimate interests)
- Give it a description (optional)
- Click Save
Note: It’s not possible to change the lawful basis of processing for a list after it’s been created.
Edit a list
Section titled “Edit a list”To edit an existing list:
- Click the List dropdown
- Hover over the list and click the edit (pencil) icon that appears next to it
- Change the name or description
- Click Save
Adding Contacts to a list
Section titled “Adding Contacts to a list”If you don’t have any contacts yet, click the + icon and select New contact or Bulk import. You can assign a contact to one or more lists directly from the New contact form.
To add existing contacts to a list:
- Go to Contacts
- Check the boxes next to one or multiple contacts
- At the top of the list, select Actions
- Select Add to group
- Open the Select Group dropdown to choose an existing list
- Click Done
Removing Contacts from a list
Section titled “Removing Contacts from a list”To remove contacts from a list:
- Go to Contacts
- Check the boxes next to one or multiple contacts (you can do this from the All list or from within a specific list)
- Select Actions at the top of the list
- Select Remove from group
- Open the Select Group dropdown and choose the list you want to remove them from
- Click Remove Contacts
If you want to remove a contact from multiple lists at once, you can instead visit their Contact Profile, open the ⋮ menu, and choose Manage list membership. Removing contacts from single or multiple lists will not delete them — they will still remain in the Contacts section.
Deleting Lists
Section titled “Deleting Lists”To delete a list:
- Go to Contacts
- Click the List dropdown
- Hover over the list you want to delete and click the delete (trash) icon that appears next to it
- Confirm by clicking Delete group
Deleting a list will not delete the contacts — they will still remain in the Contacts section.
