Question Logic

This type of Logic allows you to direct respondents to separate pages according to their answer selections.

Question Logic is not achieved by showing/hiding sets of questions. Instead, you will be required to organize sets of related questions onto their own pages, and direct respondents to these pages through answer choices they select.

Open the Form tab in the builder and click the Question logic tab in the sidebar to see this view for your form.

It lists every page in order, with its Default end of page skip to destination at the top, followed by any question on that page that already has Question Logic applied to it — click Show question logic to expand one and see the per-answer destinations. Pages with none simply read “No questions with logic”.

  1. Open the Form tab
  2. Click the icon next to your question
  3. Select Logic
  4. Open the dropdown beneath one of your answer options
  5. Select a page — only pages that come after the current one, or an Exit page, are offered

Question Logic is essential for those who require maximum control over the data being collected. This is to say that, you can use this type of Logic to set ’ Qualification Questions’, which are designed to filter out respondents who would provide data/ results which are of no use to you.

There are a few other features that can be used in tandem with Logic to further improve your form. You can employ Question Logic to create a consent form or page by which respondents are allowed access to the rest of the form if they give consent, or are taken to a ‘Thank You’ page if they refuse. Equally, you could use Question Logic to create Information Request Forms, where you ask respondents for more information regarding an answer selection.

  • To ensure clarity when using the Question Logic interfaces, we’d recommend you give each page a unique title. This is because you’ll be asked to select a page to direct respondents to, and titles will allow you to identify the correct page more easily.
  • Plan out Question Logic on paper before creating an online form, this way the separate paths and pages will be much clearer and easier to create.
